Facilities

Home port for our ships is Oostmahorn. For along time past this was the village from where the ferry went to Schiermonikoog , prior to the closing off of the Lauwersmeer from the sea. The jetty is still there and from where various boattrips are being organised. A bit further , behind the dyke a little town is being built with canals and a lock. Legend has that this little town once disappeared is named Esonstad.

The non tidal marina Oostmahorn is situated centrally along the Lauwersmeer, the inland lake (former sea) has a size of about 2000 hectares immediately adjacent to the Waddenzee. The spacious port with a maximum of 450 berths is about 30 inutes sailing from the Waddensea. Facilities like showers, toilets and washing machines are all there. There is a cosy restaurant Insulinde where one can eat. And a habitué s 'table where one can meet up with other yachtsmen.
The marina has also bungalows for rent. Sometimes there are the family people who prefer to c amp as well on board the boat as well as on land. Perhaps an idea to rent a boat as well as a house?
